Subject: Which Astroiidc option best?
Milton:
Well, I bid on another firewire webcam on ebay and got it this time. It should arrive in a
few days. It's an Aplux, the model that looks like the Unibrain Fire-i. Price was "way right"
so I couldn't resist. I like that I can daisychain firewire cameras in case I want one on a
guidescope or finder at some point.
But that brings me to my next question. When I purchase and download Astroiidc, which
method would be best for me?
I have 2 Macs at home that I will likely use, plus my laptop from work. The laptop is brand
new and has the fastest processor and most RAM, but I won't have it with me all the time.
The Macs at home are a iMac G3/400Mhz with 192MB RAM and a 60 GB hard drive, and a
clamshell iBook G3/466Mhz with 96 or 128MB RAM (can't remember which at the
moment) and a paltry 13GB hard drive (though I'll probably use the external 60 from the
iMac). Obviously, neither of the old macs is optimal, and I'll likely use the new laptop
when I can and upgrade at some point later on. I'll also likely try out other cameras at
some point, too.
So, if any of that made sense, can you suggest which download option I should go for?
planetarily,
-Tim.
