Subject: Astor IIDC Tiger Compatibility

Hi Folks;

A few people have asked about Tiger compatibility.

Yes, Astro IIDC 1.02.00 is Tiger compatible.

The only problem we have encountered is a cosmetic issue with the

Histogram display area when it's not actively being filled with

Monochrome or RGB wiggly lines.

This is due to is a really awful bug in Image Well object for

Interface Builder where part of the image well goes transparent and

you can see the back of the dialog. This did not happen in the Tiger

Betas, and was introduced around the GM release build that none of us

smaller Select or Premier (paying) developers saw (my devloper copy of

the GM only arrived here yesterday).

It's been worked around in Astro IIDC 2.0 - but it's a really hideous

and grossly apparent bug.

And this is why so much software is broken with Tiger (and with

Panther and with Jaguar etc.). It's due to Apple changing things at

the last minute, without any regard to 3rd party developers or proper

testing procedures.

Have a nice weekend..

PS:

The other issue I've seen to date that Tiger seems to be about 10%

slower at CPU intensive tasks than Panther was, so I'm not convinced

this is a "good upgrade" for the money.
