Subject: Updates on AstroIIDC 2.0
Hi Folks;
Besides the new images I posted into the files section (January Comet
Machhol in DSO folder, April Copernicus, Schiller and TychoClavius in
Lunar folder and Saturn in Planetary Folder) yesterday, I have a few
new tidbits on Astro IIDC 2.0
First off, it now supports the FireWire800 1394B PGR Dragon Fly
Express Cameras at frame rates of 120 fps at 640x480 monochrome or
color. So if you want to minimize air turbulence (assuming you have
enough light), this is your camera. I've also added in supporting
FireWire 1600 and FireWire 3200 (no commercial silicone for them
exist), which will allow frame rates of up to 240 fps to be used.
Secondly, I found a way to break the exposure limits with the Flea,
Dragon Fly, Dragon Fly Express and Scorpion cameras to beyond the
normal 42 or 63 second exposure limits. I'll fill in details on this
(you need to connect some trigger pins together on the camera plug) in
the Astro IIDC 2.0 manual, but it looks like the 9.9 x 9.9 um Scorpion
camera should be capable of doing some decent multi minute long
exposures, especially if you leave the gain levels low.
Now if the !@^*%^$#^ weather would co-operate up here in Calgary (if
it isn't overcast and raining then we have 30 to 90 km winds) so that
I could make use of it.
TTYL..
