I use the thin firewire cable sold by Apple. It works fine for me and

is more flexibility and lighter weight than the standard issue

firewire cable.

Hi Willie;

The 1394A spec says maximum distance 4.5 meters or ~15 feet

between

devices (ie Mat ot Camera max 15' or Mac to a FW Hub to Camera

could

be 30').

I usually use 10' FW cables without any problem. The PGR camera

came

with a 15' foot FW cable with clamp style ferrite beads for EM

noise

suppression and they work fine too.

In practice I've used a FireWire Hub with a 10' and 15' cable and

also had no problem either.

HTH..

Is it OK to use a longer firewire cable than came with my Fire-i?

It

is a 6' cable.  What is the max length acceptable?  A longer

cable

would help in my situation.
