I would prefer to buy but the webcaddy guy said he doesnt make one

that fits the Fire-i.

He's wrong and yes it does fit. The thread is precisely M12 x 0.5 (I measured it and Canada is Metric). Also the engineering and manufacturing diagrams from Unibrain clearly state they use an M12x0.5m. Also on the Unibrain website

http://www.unibrain.com/1394_products/fire-i_board_cam/fire-i_board_camera.htm

states it does in two places

"Standard lens base M12x0.5"

and

Optics not included, M12x0.5 compatible, 4 Unibrain references for focal: 2.1, 4.3, 8.0, 12 mm

He might be thinking of  their C-Mount industrial FW camera - but the Unibrain cameras have basically use M12x0.5 since day one.

The only sticking point on the WebCaddy adapters is determining how long a neck you need for it, as his longest

(UWAL-F) one is a 0.5". I don't have a new case or engineering diagram for it, so I don't know how big the hole (it probably needs to be about 1.5" in diameter) and if the adapter first inside the hole or not. However, if it doesn't fit you can always "widen the hole" in the case so it does.

HTH..
