I was asked that I not post the price I was quoted for the camera, but it's about a grand, as 

Milton had estimated earlier.  As for why it takes months to get?  So far, I don't know how 

long it's really going to take, but it probably has to do with limited production runs and 

quality control (a good sign that it's not mass-produced).  Also good, because it's a research 

instrument, not a webcam.  

For the time being, I can keep using my Aplux webcam with Astro IIDC, at least.
