That's why I chose the Flea, none of the low-end webcams can take extended exposures 

(that I know of).  In fact, my Aplux is so noisy at a second exposure that it's pretty useless 

at that rate.  ...but it's about 3 years old, at least.


I got it on ebay.  I looked for a while, and suspect that only the older versions of even the 

Unibrain fire-i were available that way, and Milton has said that the chips in those may be 

30% less sensitive than the current offerings in the new cameras.


Mostly, I intend to use the Flea for planetary imaging.  At 60 frames/second, it ought to be 

pretty nice.  The extended capability will be interesting, but I figure I'll still  need a cooled 

camera for serious DSO imaging.  I should be able to use the flea for guiding, though, in 

that case.

allow extended exposures for DSO.  I don't think my iBot will do that.
