Subject: mars over two nights/ Aug 24,25

Hi -

These two images were captured on two consecutive nights last week - both sessions

under average (not very good) seeing conditions about 5/10.

The left image uses a luminance layer created from frames that were hand selected in

Keith's Image Stacker and aligned four times on different quadrants of mars in an attempt

to push the maximum from the albedo features. The right image was created using the

automated selection and stacking routine in AstroIIDC (with the exception of the blue

filtered images which were too noisy to align in ADC - but these do not affect the image

resolution). With the exception of a little added sharpness to the contour of the SPC, the

hand selection process (which adds about two hours of time) did not offer much of an

improvement here. AstroIIDC did a great job accurately aligning the data. I selected the

lunar/solar routine.

best,

Alan
