Subject: Valles Marineris as imaged with the 7" Maksutov-Cassegrain/mts

Hi All,

At 3:04 AM on the morning of 8 September 2005 when Mars had

a diameter of 14.8 arc.sec, I imaged the Coprates Canal of

Lowell which marks Valles Marineris with my 7" Questar Titanium using

a Sony XCD -X70CR video camera at f/35.

The image in the files section in the Planetary folder.

Both panels of this picture are identical. These are stacks of the

sharpest 51 of 191 frames with contrast enhancement by wavelets.

This is the view I would expect in a 18 to 30 inch telescope under

perfect Danko 5 of 5 seeing.

A line in the right panel will lead you to base of Valles Marineris

(Coprates).

Astro IIDC has made all my other firewire capture software obsolete!

Enjoy,

Mike Snider
