Great shot Alan.

BTW... I took your advice and got a solar filter for my telescope.  At the AstroFest, I found

a guy that made one out of the solar mylar filter material for a C11 that he was selling.  I

bought it from him for $25.  Cheap way of getting into solar imaging.  I'm not home yet

but just looking through the filter visually at the sun, you can see the sunspot you took.

That must be a massive sunspot since it is quite visible even without a scope.

Good to meet you at MAW.  I had a lot of fun!

I had a chance to image the sun last sunday after returning from (an excellent) MAW in

Chicago. If you haven't checked out the sun lately, don't miss the show. AR798 has

single

handedly made Sept. 2005 the most active month of solar activity since Mar. 1991!!

The first 2 images were captured and stacked using AstroIIDC. The close-up frames

were

hand selected in Keith's Image Stacker. All process done in Adobe Photoshop. 90mm H-

Alpha filter on a 5" refractor working at f11 for the wide views and f22 for the close-up.

best wishes -
