Hi Tim -

Congratulations on your first Mars image with the new camera. With my 10" I am

finding myself torn between 66ms and 33ms exposures. The results are kind of a

toss up once the images are averaged - I think the software will have a harder time

stacking the noisier images from the faster shutter. Depending on how well I polar

align (I set-up and take down each session) I sometimes have trouble capturing a

long enough stream at 15fps due to movement of the target on the chip. But if the

seeing is good the smoother images from the slower shutter is probably better.

Alan,

I was surprised and pleased to see your article in the Orion Sky Times in my Inbox this morning. It was very well written and a credit to you and Orion. We all appreciate your willingness to share your techniques. Thanks also for taking the opportunity to mention Mac computers. If anyone takes the time to look up your images I predict that it can't help but increase amateur astronomer's interest in our chosen platform. As always your images are an inspiration to us all.

Ernie
