Got my new Flea camera in the mail yesterday!  Now the marine layer is back, though, so I

couldn't try it out on Mars this morning.  I'll have to check and see what time it's rising in  the

3am or so.

It was clear here last night, but I was too tired to go out and futz with that !@%$#$%$%^ Orion RA drive. It's runs slow (7 arc second per second slow) so even trying to keep stars centered without active guiding is virtually impossible.  My replacement drive has been back ordered and has taken 3 weeks now :(

The 4.5m firewire cable with the ferrite beads at the ends must be the one that ships with the

Flea camera, because it looks like that.

Yep - it's a heavy duty monster.

So, since I can't see the sky, I've been playing a little with a couple of lenses and my Mogg

adapters that came last week.  So far, I've tried an 11mm C-mount lens and a 70-210mm

Quantaray zoom lens with a Nikon bayonet mount.  With both lenses, but particularly the C-

mount lens, infinity focus seems to be out of reach, like there needs to be an extension

between the Mogg adapter and the camera?

There should be a short (5mm)  extender ring included in the box which you screw into the camera and then it will work with C mount lenses. If you have C/S mount lenses, then take the extender off.

On a side note, The Imaging Source have added their new "A" series (21AF04, 31AF03, 41AF02 ) 8 bit monochrome and color cameras, which are about $80 to $120 USD less than their "B" series (21BF04, 31BF03, 41BF02). The price difference is because the the "A" series don't have trigger or I/O control pins and unless your doing Machine Vision stuff, you don't need them.

HTH..
