What is the opinion of the color version of the DFK 21BF04? ( I am using the DMK 21BF04 )?

I assume its sensitivity is pretty good mostly what I loose is some resolution from the bayer.

It has the same Sony ICX098BQ CCD in it as the Unibrain Color Cameras do. If you removed the color bayer filter mosaic (not physically possible so don't anyone even think about it) you would have the exact same CCD as used in the DMK 21BF04, the Sony ICX098BL CCD.

The Imaging Source do have better electronics (lower noise) and can push the gains up higher before the noise becomes really objectionable.

Sensitivity wise it's around 40 - 60%, depending on the light source. It's most sensitive to green because it has 2x as many green pixels as red or blue. Green is also the color  that our eyes pick out the most detail in too.

HTH..
