Subject: Mars moons animation

Yesterday night I imaged Deimos and Phobos over a period of 40 minutes using the DMK

21BF04 in the prime focus of my C9.25 SCT. Here's a quick GIF animation of the result (5

minute intervals between frames):

Each GIF frame is a stack of about 200 camera frames, each exposed for 133 ms. The Mars

image is inserted for scale comparison. Toward the end of the animation Phobos reaches

its greatest elongation... clouds cut the exercise short, I had hoped to keep going for a

while...

Best,
