Is it my imagination or does the ideal saturation change depending on the other values I've 

set, or once I find the ideal saturation for that camera is it always the same?

Not too be too heavy handed here, but it was the Saturation control  

not the Red gain that caused it. This only applies to the low end  

inexpensive cameras have the Saturation control. The way Saturation  

is implemented is that it uses a convolution algorithm in the  

TSLBV1501 chip set and it doesn't work very well, except to increase  

noise levels.
