Thanks for the additional info. The 1394store made it look like it was just the Fire-i that 

was effected but looking at this further info...seems a lot more cameras are indeed 

involved. I guess, I'll just stick with the ibot for now till I hear its ok to start looking at 

another camera.

Sony finally admitted that it had some really serious Q&A problems  

with their CCD's between 2002 and 2005. Symptoms include CCD's not  

transmitting video (ie it died), color problems and distortion etc.  

Many cameras are affected by this. I know that The Imaging Source,  

Meade and other manufacturers that use Sony CCD's have been affected  

by this.
