Milton,
Thanks for the additional info. The 1394store made it look like it
was just the Fire-i that
was effected but looking at this further info...seems a lot more
cameras are indeed
involved. I guess, I'll just stick with the ibot for now till I hear
its ok to start looking at
another camera.

Hi ya;
Sony finally admitted that it had some really serious Q&A problems
with their CCD's between 2002 and 2005. Symptoms include CCD's not
transmitting video (ie it died), color problems and distortion etc.
Many cameras are affected by this. I know that The Imaging Source,
Meade and other manufacturers that use Sony CCD's have been affected
by this.
Here is some info on it.

I was on my way to ordering a Fire-i board camera from the
1394store.com and noticed they are having problems with the ccd and
won't be sold till next month. Anyone know anything about this?
Jim
I bought a fire-i board camera in March of 2004 and it lasted almost a
year before it died, no video output - looks like I had one of the
faulty ccds. I also know of at least one other fire-i that suffered
the same fate.
