Hi Steve -

Yes, I still have and am very happy with the DMK 21BF04. I still have my home fashioned Fire-I board camera which I haven't used since first tests of the DMK.

The B&W DMK camera and RGB filterwheel suit very well my interests and my observing location. Over the past year I have kept the same equipment and focused mostly on refining processing techniques to make the most of what I can record with my aperture and mediocre seeing conditions. I've been very happy to have a camera and software that operate reliably and work well together.

The idea of a greater pixel depth is intriguing. I would love to see a direct comparison that could show if there are benefits in practice. One does see many images that are processed to a level that clip data from 256 tonal steps.

Milton has probably used more cameras in the past year than most will use in a lifetime and he has offered a lot of valuable feedback on the forum. I would have a good look at his posts and recommendations.

best,

Alan

A question for Alan - Are you still using the DMK 21BF04?  I can't quite tell from past

messages.  On reflection, if that's what you use to make your spectacular images then it's

certainly good enough for me :)

Anyone disagree with that?
