Subject: Re: What a difference a little work makes

Hi Alan - Thanks for the nice words.  Unfortunately while I was working to set up the new

DMK camera tonight something bad seemed to happen: I unplugged it to move the

telescope, and when I plugged it back in again the video output is all white even when the

lens opening is completely covered :(.  No noise at all regardless of the video settings.

Same thing in Astro IIDC and iMovie, on multiple computers.  The "old" fire-i is working

fine.  I'd run the DMK camera only about two hours total since it arrived, and it was fine

before this incident...  I sure hope imaging source has some kind of warranty policy, can't

find any mention.

Oh well, there are lots of moon movies to reprocess...

That sharpening was for a radius of 1 or so, I'm heeding your advice.  Think it needs to be

smaller still?  I tried several sizes before settling on the image you see, but perhaps it

could be better.

Steve-

Great work. The second image is a dramatic improvement. Try constraining your

sharpening on lunar images to a small pixel diameter. I think you will find the most

natural results can be achieved with this setting.

Looking forward to seeing images from your new camera.
