Subject: Re: DMK camera fixes itself - is there some kind of timeout?
Perhaps I'm being a bit too dramatic on the negative side of what can
happen, but having had hard drive becomes corrupted or destroyed over
the past 20 years of PC development work makes me a bit paranoid,
especially when it can be prevented.
Milton J. Aupperle
Milton, don't get me wrong - I agree completely that unplugging a hard
drive while it's busy copying files is a bad thing to do.
However, Steve was asking about unplugging/replugging a DCAM video
camera, wasn't he? That's surely not the same thing at all, and it
seems that he is quite correct in wondering why the software doesn't
redetect and reinitialise the camera when it's plugged back in.
Is this something you might consider looking at in a future release of
Astro_IIDC? Even if the camera was just reinitialised to its default
settings then at least the system would be back in a usable state.
