Hi Alan,
I count about a dozen craters in Plato on your picture. Nice going!

Happy New Year all -
I have posted a few wide field lunar images during the past year that were done by
pasting
high resolution images into lower resolution (prime focus) field images to portray a wide
field with satisfying detail using the small DMK 21BF04 chip.
Recently I started work on a new project to assemble a wide field high resolution image
compiled of a large number of frames taken through my 10" mak at f32. Using 28 tiles,
this would have been a lifelong project using hand selection techniques. Instead, I will
be
testing new stacking routines that Milton is working on in Astro IIDC which will make
the
processing a bearable (albeit lengthy) job.
I've posted the reference image I will use to help organize the assembly of the pieces:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Astro_IIDC/files/Lunar/404033.jpg
This image is made up of 26 single video raw frames stitched around two stacked and
processed images of the crater Plato and the Alpine Valley. It is reduced by more than
50%
from the actual resolution. The final image will be reduced a little from original size for
sharpness - but should be a nice panorama of a dramatic lunar landscape. Will post the
finished picture when it is done.
best wishes -
