Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] Eskimo Nebula image uploaded to files

Hi Tim -

That looks great. I had thought that planetary nebulae would make the best deep sky targets for webcams but only got to test this out as far as M57 (I don't get out to a dark site too often these days!) I posted this image to the DSO folder some months back.

I found that the luminance data in B&W worked out very well with my 10" at f14.6, even at the 30 second limit of my DMK camera. I didn't fare as well through the color filters though - my color data was awful, and not much better when I tried to shoot through my 4" at f6 and scale the image to fit the hires luminance. I tried I got some help from the color from a friends CCD image.

best,

Alan

Hi all:

I uploaded an image I took last night with my color Flea, to the files/DSO area.  It's a grabbed

and averaged set of 3 60 second exposures.  Shot at f/10, as the .6x focal reducer made too

small an image.  Unguided Takahashi NJP german equatorial mount (love that polar finder!).

No darks or flats used, though i did use a lasoo selection tool with a 50 pixel feather to

reduce the amp glow in the upper left corner of the frame.

I also began a mosaic of M42 that was looking spectacular, but as Orion was dropping toward

downtown in the SW, the  background sky color was changing to an unpalatable dark green.

I'll tyr to finish that mosaic on another night.

best,

-Tim.
