You should be able to direct connect them with an EtherNet cable and then transfer the files that way. I move files back and forth between my various Macs and my newish PC all the time, but I do have a Router/Hub between them.

Basically you''ll need to turn on "Windows Sharing" in the "Sharing" system preferences on your Mac and then mount it from the PC. You can move files back and forth between them.
