Subject: Auto Guider Hardware Product

Hi folks;

I am considering offering a USB based Auto Guider box which would work

with Astro IIDC. Basically it would have a USB and an RJ-11 6 pin

connector on the box, which you plug into the dedicated Auto Guider

port of your mount. It works the same way you would with a SBIG Camera

for auto guiding and would be compatible with Celestron, Meade, Sky

Watcher, Orion Sirius, Orion Atlas etc. type scopes.

I already have a proto type built and have been using it (via a hacked

EQ3/2 hand controller) to control scopes that way with decent success

and the interface is already built into Astro IIDC 2.04. I plan on

picking up a Skywatcher HEQ5 or a Sirius Orion EQ-G for finalt testing

in the near future (assuming the skies eve clear up after 6 weeks and

counting of fog/clouds/snow). Basically it would be "plug and play"

and with a 2" or larger aperture guide scope, you should be able to

guide on 6th to 7th magnitude stars using a Unibrain Monochrome camera.

Pricing is tenative but it would likely be in the $125 to $175 USD

range (+ shipping + import taxes from Canada etc.). In small

quantities it's hard to get any economies of scale for buying materials.

So if your interested in it, send me an e-mail to

info@outcastsoft.com

with "USB Guider" in the subject line.

Please note that I'm just looking for a rough idea of how many people

are interested and we won't be pestering you for sales afterwards.

None of this information will be passed on to to any third party. I'm

just trying to guage the approximate number of units that might be

wanted so that I can get better pricing numbers.

Thanks in advance.
