Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] adapter

Hi Michael;

Basically what you are looking for is a C or CS mount to 1.25" Adapter. I would make sure that the 1.25" adapter end you do get is threaded for 1.25" filters too.

Some links and info listed on the Astro IIDC Home page in the FAQ Section entitled "How do I connect a FireWire camera to a Telescope or Microscope??"

For example, if you go to the Mogg Adapter site at:

http://webcaddy.com.au/astro/adapter.asp?pid=slr

the  "UWAC-F (1-32 C-Mount to 1.25" Filter thread" will do the job.

A quick search via Google for the phrase "C-Mount 1.25" turned up the following links of companies that sell them:

http://www.scopetronix.com/webcam.htm (scroll down to the "C Mount for Video Cameras" item)

http://www.scopestuff.com/ss_tadpt.htm (#TTCM with #TADP or #TAPP)

http://www.microscopesusa.com/maxview_plus_pics.html (both microscopes and telescopes)

http://www.telescopehouse.co.uk/page.aspx?theLang=001lngdef&pointerid=xxxxxpX4nHlhS2dqpN6vgdcq2ysWJNNT&action=lnk

http://www.borg-telescopes.co.uk/shop/7511.html

For my own equipment, I mainly use the #TTCM with #TADP unit or a home built Adapter I made that fits on a M42 Pentax S Threaded / T Threaded units too. The M42 Adapter is nice because I can then use inexpensive second hand M42 threaded SLR lenses with it. for example the Flea 640x480 camera paired with a 50 mm F1.8 lens gives me a 5°x4° field of view - which is great for wide field imaging.

Hope That Helps..
