Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] Hey all

Hi Dave and (in part) Steve;

Their are basically three physical interfaces used for IIDC cameras, M10x0.5mm, M12x0.5mm and C/CS-Mount.

1) The Orange Boxed Unibrain camera uses an M10x0.5mm mount. Nothing commercial fits this and you'll have to make your own adapter for it. You can check out what Jim Chung did as displayed in  "unibrain1.jpg " and "unibrain2.jpg " in the Files Other section. In most cases you have to alter the camera or case to get it to attach to a scope.

2) The Unibrain "Board Cameras" use M12x0.5mm mounts and a few companies make adapters for them. I list some on the Astro IIDC Web Site in the FAQ section titles "How do I connect a FireWire camera to a Telescope or Microscope??"

3) The C and CS Mount are basically the same thing, except one is 5 mm longer. I listed several links to adapters for Scopes and Microscopes in message 774 on this list last week.

Hope That Helps.

Well I'm new to the group. Hi.

That said,

I jusyt got the Unibrain fire-i two days ago, color, from Unibrain for review purposes (of

Milt's software). What is the lastest on adapters for this? I have the orange boxed consumer

one. I've heard everything from super-glueing eyepiece parts to it to changing the threads. I

want as simple a solution (well don't we all!).

Also, Unibrain is offering me the black and white version for review. I don't need it, is there

anyone here who would be interested in giving it a shot, a review of the ca,e with Milt's

software?

Thanks.
