Hello all,
Am I the only one having problems here? Neither Astro IIDC v. 1 (the version that I own) and
v. 2 (unregistered) seem to work with my MacBook Pro. Running OS X 10.4.6, and I've tried it
out with an iBot and the Fire-i webcam.
Version 2.0x was a free upgrade for Version 1.0. However the license you purchased was not for the MacBook Pro, which explains why it's unregistered.
While the program launches, if I go to the "Open Camera" menu item, I get the No Cameras
Found message. Odd. Is it possible the built-in iSight camera is getting in the way?
Nope. The built in camera is a USB 2.0 one so it will not interfere with FireWire (unless Apple really dropped the ball). However I have heard it may interfere with USB 2 devices though as bandwidth management with USB 2 is a "hit and miss" basis.
The
cameras appear to working with other programs (e.g., Photo Booth).
I just plugged in a Unibrain color and and a Flea camera with Version 2.05 works fine here on a Mac Mini duo x86. I know that other cameras (iBots etc.) work fine on the iMac x86 too. I did have pry it out of iChat's grubby little hands because it grabbed the camera and would not release it until I unchecked it in the preferences. Apple being the Cheap A-Holes they are, do not include "Photo Booth" on Minis so I can't test it to see if Photo Booth is releasing the cameras or not.
On a side note.
When displaying at 30 fps 640x480 color, the Core Duo 1.67 gighz uses up 26% (out of 200%) of the CPU. For stacking, the Core Duo 1.67 gighz Mac benchmarks out at the same speed as a G4 1.25 gighz PowerBook, but uses 167% (out of 200%) of the CPU.
HTH..
