Subject: Jupiter June 28
Hi All,
I had an opportunity to image Jupiter showing Europa and its shadow as well as an ill defined structure up and to the left of the shadow. I'm not a expert on Jupiter's features yet.
Using Astro IIDC, I tried a variety of settings and am still wading through the raw footage. As suggested by Milton and Alan, some images were taken without an IR filter and the color images were binned. The preliminary images have showed promise but the seeing had rapidly deteriorated by the time I had changed settings. I have no definite conclusions yet. I have posted the first image taken, using my normal approach, with an IR filter for luminance as well as for the color footage. If any of the other images turn out better, I will make an announcement to the group.
It would be easier if I could find a red filter that also blocks IR, so far I have only seen them in sets. Anyway, here's the information for the image I'm showing today. ;~)
