Hi Alan;

It was nine 5 minute exposures stacked and aligned in Astro IIDC. I

kept the gains at 400 out of 1024 and dark frame subtracted it. I used

an 80 mm refractor with an old unibrain color camera for guiding with

the GPUSB Auto guider box.

It was pretty flukey doing the alignment setup too. I plunked the HEQ5

tripod down, got it aligned on the north axis using a compass and then

levelled it with a carpenters level. When I ran the tracking tests to

see how far out I was, it was tracking nearly perfectly and I didn't

need to change anything. Also it just happens that Calgary and this

place happen to have exactly the same latitude too.

Hi Milton -

Nice M13! I had a good time last summer at the Black Forest Star Party

trying the webcam on deep sky targets. I never take the time at home to

get good enough polar alignment for long exposures with my Mak at 3.6

meter FL. The 30 sec. max for the DMK became a frustration, though.

Was this a single 5 minute exposure? - the tracking looks very good.

cheers-

Alan

Hi Folks;

I'm on vacation at a very dark site and grabbed this 5 minute

exposure

of M13. I wanted to grab more data, however the humidity fogged the

optics so I only got 45 minutes worth. Also it appears that this was

the mating night for some type of winged water beetle and they

covered

my keyboard and display on the laptop - as well as my glasses and

hair

too in their "frenzy".

Details on the image (exposure, scope, seeing and other info) are

embedded in the image.
