Subject: Re-Processed Lunar Images

Hi Folks;

Since the moon is extremely low on the horizon (maximum 15 degrees

altitude) up here,  I've had no new lumare image material to work with

for testing. So  I just posted two re-processed versions of some 2005

lunar images to the Lunar folder (they are 396K and 478K in size):

and

They were processed using Astro IIDC 3.01.00 which has some new bells

and whistles like a new spatial sharpening method (similar to how

wavlets work), noise reduction for stacking/aligning and a new color

saturation tool in the Image Processing module.

For comparisons sake, here are the original images as stacked -

aligned using Astro IIDC 2.0 and post processed (sharpness, brighness,

levles, colors) with PhotoShop are shown here

Note the huge improvement in the resulting stacked images, both for

fine detail level and for alignment accuracy with Astro IIDC 3.01.00.

Also the Color Saturation tool adds some new capabilites with

accentuating very subtle color differences as is shown in the right

side of both enhanced images. It can basically  map out various

geological and lithological features based on subtle color changes.

The new 3.01.00 version of Astro IIDC  should be available in a few weeks.

Have a great weekend..
