Welcome Ray,

I have had good luck using a DMK camera with Astro IIDC.  I found it a better (easier) system for lunar and planet imaging that the TouCam or iBot.  I may be wrong, but I think the DMK 21AF04 would be the better choice and for a few dollars more you have the capabilities to capture at 60 FPS.

I purchased a DMK 31AF03 and am limited to 30 FPS. Oh well.  And yes, Astro IIDC does stack and align very well.

Hi everyone,

My name is Ray and I'm a very keen Mac User and also a planetary imager. I'm a graphic
designer by profession so love my G5 and other Macs so I'm very pleased that there is
software to enable me to use Macs for my hobby. I'm intending to purchase a DMK 21F04
and a True Technology filter wheel to do both mono (Sun and Moon) and colour (the
Planets) imaging. Currently I use a Philips ToUcam on a laptop PC using K3CCD Tools and
Registax. My telescopes are a brand new Celestron C9.25 for lunar and planetary, a Meade
AR5 5" refractor with a Herschel wedge and Baader Solar continuum filter for white light
Sloar imaging and a Coronado Maxscope40 for Ha I also use a Nikon CP4500 foe Lunar
and Solar portraits.

A question - apart from acquiring my images from the DMK 21F04 does Astro IIDC offer
alignment and stacking or do I need to use Keith's Image stacker? Also is there a wavelets
type of system within Astro IIDC?

Does the group approve of my choice in camera BTW
