I thought I would run this by you all before contacting The Imaging Source and IOXperts.

I received a new serial number from IOXperts f/u/w my new DMK 21AF04. In  the registration

process it is necessary to enter this serial number in a dialogue box which also displays the

"unique identifier" for the camera being registered. I am getting the message that "this serial

number is not valid for this camera." The camera's unique identifier is supposed to be 16

hexidecimal digits; the unique identifier for my DMK 21AF04 is 0007.4813.01E2.2D88.BA --

18 digits. I assume this is why the camera won't register. Omitting the final two digits doesn't

help.

It should not be an 18 character value unless IOXperts software is having a problem. It's not physically possible to be > 16 character/digits and it's actually a hexadecimal 64 bit result like 0x0007481301E22D88. The Vendor Id (00074813) is unique for each manufacturer and the device id (1E22D88) is unique for each device in that series.

So if IOXperts generates this "0007.4813.01E2.2D88.BA" number then I'd be talking to them about it - because it isn't correct.

Also are you sure it's "0007.4813" and not 0007.4812?? The Unique id for The Imaging Source has always been in the past "00074812".

This is on a 17" G4 PowerBook running 10.4.7.

Apple's built-in driver allows only minimal control over the camera -- it displays an image

and allows changes in brightness, gain, and shutter, but not FPS. While trying to autoguide

using Equinox I was getting one frame per second, which is unusable.

Which is why we developed our IIDC framework and why I wrote Astro IIDC. Those cameras can run at up to 60 fps - but you'd never know it with Apples' drivers.
