I have a first generation G4 titanium laptop that I have nursed along for almost 6

years now. I used to love upgrading computers every year or two - but a few years

ago something snapped and now I am thrilled to keep this old workhorse chugging

along. It is 500 mhz I think.

I have been able to keep between 8 and 9 gigs free on the hard drive, which is

enough for me on most sessions. I record to the hard drive directly, but back up as

soon as I can on a small Firelite external portable drive and then delete the files off

the internal drive so I'm ready for the next session. I often process the images

directly from the external.

I didn't think you could power both a camera and a firelite drive through the

firewire bus at the same time? Haven't tried it though.
