Hi -
It will be interesting to follow what develops from this.
As many of you probably know, Paolo (in addition to being a very active and skilled lunar and planetary observer and imager) was a distributor of Lumenera cameras and is also making his rail telescope design (optimized for long focal length planetary imaging) available to the amateur community.
At one point he attempted to explore with Lumenera the possibilities of Mac operation of their cameras.
I do talk with Paolo from time to time - I will ask him to keep us posted on the development of his new camera, as this one seems to have a real potential for operation on a Mac platform with Astro IIDC.
best,
Alan

Folks;
After a little bit of digging around on his site, I came up with this
link.

From the postings, this is in the "thought" stage so I would not
expect anything soon as their still deciding what the camera will
support (it started out USB 2, then 1394A and now it's 1394B). They
have a wish list of features put together though, which look nice and all.
Also there are some really confusing things in the postings about
1394B not being powered, where as it's a requirement of the 1394B spec
to supply power. I think they are confusing 1394B with FW 4 pin / DV
mini FW connectors which are not powered and that some manufactureres
produce 6 pin FireWire 1394A cards/cables with no power (which is
basically a violation of spec).
In any case, it will be interesting to see what develops from it.
TTYL..
