Subject: Re: Comet McNaught from Los Angeles

Well, someone musta told me I wouldn't be able to see the comet this

evening, because I looked for it!

I actually did see it briefly in my 7x50s, about a degree or so above

the horizon.  I had the camera set up from the night before, and I'd

started Astro IIDC on the powerbook, so I just had to center the comet

and start shooting.  But I couldn't find it again!  Rats.  I figure it

must have gotten lost in the haze along the horizon, because it was

still a ways from setting.

Oh well, the southern hemispherers will have to take up the cause!

Hi folks:

I just uploaded five of my best comet McNaught images that I shot

this evening from our

tower window.  Foreground stuff is from Mt Washington, about 2 miles

away.

Most of the videos were 500 frame videos, except for the last.

Because the comet was

setting so fast, I needed to hurry, so I switched to 100 frames/vid.

It's a pretty comet, but it would sure have been nice to see it in a

dark sky!

I shot some last night as well.  They look pretty similar to these.
