Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] What else do I need

Hi Tom,

What is it you wish to image?  I'd say that your scopes lend themselves to Lunar imaging on the ETX and not a lot else without a polar aligned telescope. The 80mm scope is an instrument that is currently popular with deep-sky imaging enthusiasts and a cooled CCD camera on a polar aligned and guided system is the order of the day here.

To be brutally honest I'd consider a bigger aperture telescope first and one with an Equatorial mount then look at one of the fine TIS cameras operated by Astro IIDC.

Hello!

If I were to get the DFK 21BF04 camera and AstroII DC software for Mac OS, what else would I
need to start capturing images?

I have anETX-125 w/UHTC, an 80mm ED refractor and an alt/az mount. My computer is a
Powerbook G4 867mhz, Mac OS 10.4.4.

Would appreciate helping me set up a shopping list for the bare minimum it would take to
get going.

Thank You,
