Hi all -

Thought I would share this recent image - one of very few that I've been able to

muster over this long winter:

http://www.avertedimagination.com/img_pages/moonrise022407.html

It was captured with a 92mm f4.9 refractor using a 2x barlow. Without the barlow

it takes two frames to capture the first quarter moon in a 640x480 chip. The

seeing was poor this evening. I had planned to process the 8 streams for this

mosaic in Astro IIDC - but the constant rippling in the frames made the stacks

appear soft. I chose one sharp frame from each stream to work with and made the

mosaic from 8 of these single frames. At a gain setting around 200, the noise was

low enough to allow this to work.

best wishes -

Alan
