Jumping in...
While I'm far from an expert imager, my experience is that it's sometimes like juggling, and having a tracking mount means one less ball in the air. Once you've found the sun (not as easy as it sounds!), keeping it in frame while you concentrate on focus and camera settings sounds like a bonus to me.
