Subject: Re: Starting Out and Would Appreciate Camera Advice

Hi Milton,

Thank you very much (& Alan and Jeff) for such a thorough and helpful set of replies.  I'm

starting to feel a lot better about what I'll need to get started off on the right foot.

I'll make a camera decision shortly and start looking for a decent mount for tracking. I'm not

concerned about my ability to find the sun quickly (I've been observing a long time..) but I

certainly appreciate Milton and Jeff's points about image drift (especially at high mag) and

practicalities of focus and capture times.  I don't need the added frustration - especially when

I should be giving my atention to all the other challenges involved.

I was thinking about picking up a motorized Vixen Great Polaris 2, which can be had for a

good price at the moment and should handle the TV76 just fine.  Perhaps that is more than

enough mount to get me started?

I look forward to learning and using  ASTRO IIDC - seems like a great package.

thanks,

Doug
