Did you see Pt Grey's new flea2 camera with the half inch chip in it?
Nope - just reading the Specs now.
Wish I'd waited a few months to buy mine!
Well, the ICX267 has smaller (4.65 microns) pixels than the 1/3" 640x480 Flea does, so it won't capture as much light per pixel as the 640x480 will with it's 7.4 micron CCD's.
I would still love to have the Monochrome Scorpion 640x480 with it's 9.9 micron pixels in a C8 / C11 FastStar / Hyper Star system say for Nova or Asteroid hunting. of course I'd have to win a lottery first to afford all the toys that go with it - like a piece of dark land.
Oh well, I'm going to wait and see what the new grasshoppers go for.
Yep - me too. The low end Grasshopper is going to be a very interesting beast. The 14 bit A/D is going to make a big difference for DSO's as is the ICX285 EXHad CCD with 1388x1036 6.45 micron pixels. The only thing it needs is a means cooling the CCD directly.
