Hi Ray -

Thanks for such a nice note. I will surely post the Jupiter image - it is a wrestling match for sure!

best regards,

Alan

Hi Alan,

Ironically I've just posted to Doug's mail then thought I'd take a look at your site. Not wanting to be sycophantic which I'm really not being, but all your images on the your site are just so top-notch I especially love your lunar work which I think is the best hi-res lunar imaging I've ever seen, not withstanding your other Planetary and Solar images.

I'm looking forward to any Jupiter stuff you may do give us the heads-up

I've also had good results with an SBIG RGB set (late 1990's vintage - not sure if they were made by Custom Scientific). I would recommend getting filters that are blocked for IR.

Jim - nice to see someone else has been struggling with Jupiter. I had a pretty good session on May 30 - hope to have an image finished later this week. The seeing was quite good considering the atmospheric gurgling - I used too much focal length, though, which made for a big, dim and noisy jupiter. I have a short window of opportunity between some power lines that run low in by backyard - have to think fast (something I'm not too good at!)

best -

Alan

Doug,

I'm fairly new to using RGB filters myself but found the Custom Scientific filters that SBig

carries works well with the PGR Flea. They often come up for sale used as SBig owners switch

them for I would suspect something better in that the exposure for each color are not the

same. I just eyeball the level and it usually works out fairly close and of course you can

adjust the color balance post processing.

This is Jupiter from Toronto that I shot this morning, and is probably the best attempt given

the low altitude of Jupiter this year.
