Subject: Re: Scope Pads for Guide Scopes

I've got one of those Meade 4" SCTs that was on sale after Halley.  I

just adapted it's tripod mounting block to bolt directly to a Losmandy

dovetail clamp.  I plan to center guide stars by adjusting the

secondary.  Should work okay if it and the main scope aren't too far

off boresighted, and it won't matter if the guide stars are a little

distorted.

I'll have to see if Bob's Knobs makes a set of knobs for that scope.

Those allen screws are really dinky!

Baader also offers something similar.  See:

Hi Folks;

I just saw a reference to this on the SCT List.

For those of us that use a Guide Scope on Tube Rings, check

out "Scope

Pads" at

http://www.us-astro.com/

Not only do they prevent you from marring the tube, they likely will

improve stability too.

And no I don't own a set of them yet.
