Subject: Using 4" SCT as Guide Scope, was guide scope pads

Update:

I just tried this mounted on my 9.25" SCT.  The 4" is about a half

degree off boresighted with the 9.25".  So, my idea won't work, even

if it wasn't going to be a pain to adjust.

I'm either going to buy or make a set of typical rings, I guess.  I

also think I'll drill and tap holes for some nylon screws through the

cell so that I can lock the primary from shifting.

I've got one of those Meade 4" SCTs that was on sale after Halley.  I

just adapted it's tripod mounting block to bolt directly to a Losmandy

dovetail clamp.  I plan to center guide stars by adjusting the

secondary.  Should work okay if it and the main scope aren't too far

off boresighted, and it won't matter if the guide stars are a little

distorted.

I'll have to see if Bob's Knobs makes a set of knobs for that scope.

Those allen screws are really dinky!
