Subject: Re: any chance of support for this camera?
Hi Eric:
Hm... seems like a lot of work, even with the batch processing. I do
agree that the DSI Pro is pretty sensitive, though.
I have an old 3Com Homeconnect camera that takes interlaced video as
well. But it has low and medium quality settings that don't. More
properly, it must only save alternate frames to the .avi (or .mov, as
there was a Mac version of the vicam software). It worked pretty
well, but the chip wasn't even as sensitive as my non-pro Toucam, and
it could only acquire medium resolution images at 2fps, if I remember
correctly.
Best, would be for the Envisage software (or Nebulosity) to include a
function to deinterlace the frames from the DSI. I wonder if that's
on the horizon? (I haven't used mine in over a year, so I don't know
what kinds of upgrades to the Meade software might be out there).
I still find the results I get with the firewire cameras (Pt Grey) and
Astro IIDC to be far superior to working with the DSI Pro. But both
my cameras are color cameras. It'd be nice to have a monochrome camera
with filters for some applications.

Hi Tim,
Yes, I read about the interlacing, but had planned to use the
techniques presented here:

He uses PSP to deinterlace, but I think probably PS might be able to
do it as well although I haven't looked.
