Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] Orion Atlas

Hi Dale;

An Atlas is the same as an HEQ6 mount, just re-branded by Orion. It's a much heavier duty version of the HEQ5 / CG5 / Orion Sirius. I know of one person for sure using Astro IIDC for guidng with an HEQ6 and a GPUSB, so I doubt there will be any issues.

If you use a GPUSB box for guiding, then Astro IIDC can guide the scope for you using the ST-4 Guider port.

For slewing and object location, the GoTo hand controller  or Equinox can control it via the KeySpan USB Serial port, as the Atlas/Sirius / HEQ6 / CGE mounts all use the Celestron Serial control protocol.

HTH..

Hi folks,

Is anyone using a Orion Atlas mount with Astro IIDC? If so are there

any other toys to make this combo work. I'm thinking about getting a

new mount...

Thanks,
