I have no idea. They never asked for permission to join the group and I never approved a request for them. I have now banned and removed them from the AstroIIDC group.

I have seen this sort of thing before too. Every time someone has joined the group, I get notified of them joining. Twice now I've seen people post messages that never joined the Astro IIDC group - they just "appear" out of nowhere.

So my guess is that Yahoo Groups had been hacked or otherwise compromised at a much higher level, which gives them say global group access and they can add themselves to groups at will. Once you are a member you can post anything.
