Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] IMaging Source Firmware Update for Mac

I had this problem with my 41AF02.as camera purchased a month or so back. Milton's instructions should be followed and the firmware update requested through the imaging source. I had to find a friend with a PC to run the update and then found out how few PC laptops are made with a firewire port. A quick trip to Best Buy for a board and the camera was up and running.

best,

Alan

Dear Dr Mike;

You have a camera with bad firmware. It's described in our FAQ section in the read me file and on our web site:

I have a "AF" or "BF" series camera from "The Imaging Source" that does not display video on a Mac but works fine under Windows. Why??

Some models of the "The Imaging Source's" cameras have a firmware bug that prevents it from transmitting video frames on a Mac, with any Mac software or drivers. This has been addressed with a new firmware upgrade that you can get by contacting The Imaging Source at:

support(at)theimagingsource(dot)com.

Please indicate the exact model of camera that you have (i.e. DMK 21BF04, DFK 41AF02 etc.) and that you need the firmware updater for Mac OS X.

They sent me four "AF" / "BF" .AS cameras in January for testing and 3 of them had this problem which had to be shipped back for replacement. Also they no longer want to send out a firmware patches that work on the Mac.

And this problem only happen on "TIS" cameras too. All of the PGR cameras and other brands work fine on the MAc / Linux / Windows.

Hope That Helps..

Hi,

I just got an imaging source camera - the DFK 21AF04.AS.

I downloaded the Astro IIDc software, just to check that all is well.

I opened the camera and  software recognizes the camera [in demo mode], but all I get is

blank white screen when I start the video and no mater what controls I alter or which slider I

slide, it stays perfectly white!

Help!!
