Subject: Re: IMaging Source Firmware Update for Mac

Hi Milton,

I managed to get the firmwre update and installed it [I think!]. Now, when I run astro_iidc,

I ge the video window with the text "demo version" bouncing all over the screen, but no

actual image of anything. Should I be seeing an image?

Is this OK. ?

I am hoping that this signifies that the camera and software is now working and thatall I

need do now is reigster the software.

cheerio,

Mike

Hi Mike;

The Mac version of the updater was never officially released. I

helped with some testing of it on Intel / PowerPC Macs, however it

"ate" one of the TIS cameras I had here. By "Ate" I mean the camera

was no longer recognized on the FireWire bus as a FireWire device

(configrom was "gone") and had to be shipped back to Germany for

replacement.

There may be a Windows XP version of the updater, but you'll have to

ask "The Imaging Source" about that and be using BootCamp to run it.

I don't think Parallels works with FireWire.

And I would not be "flashing" the camera except if they tell you to

do so with their current flashing tools. If you load the wrong

firmware, then it may no longer even show up as a camera and will be

"Eaten", requiring you to ship it back.

Hope That Helps..

along with instructions of course.

Thanks in advance.
