Hi Milton,

I have a few questions...

I'd like to get another copy of Astro IIDC. I'd like to try imaging from my Intel laptop, but

may continue to image from my Powerbook (depending on how it goes). I may also want

to process on a beefy desktop system.

That's why I'm thinking about getting a copy that is licensed to the camera, even though I

have one licensed to my G4 already. As long as this camera lasts, I don't think I'll be

upgrading it.

My first question is whether or not I can still do that?

Yes you can.

My big question is, how late do I

need to buy another copy to be able to upgrade to version 4 for free? Do I have to wait for

version 4 to be released, or if I upgrade now am I good to go?

There are no "free" copies.

The day that version 4 is available the price of Astro IIDC 4 will go up by the same amount as the upgrade costs is. Last time it was $25.00 USD and that was for users who had copies of  either 1.0 or 2.0 of Astro IIDC.

I have not determined the new pricing yet and it's something I'll be thinking about over x-mas.  I suspect it will be more considering I had to look through just over 1.2 million lines of code line by line and then rewrite about 600,000 lines of code for x86 and on top of that have a tonne of new features (i.e. manual frame selection, photometry by color, astrometry, improved guiding and features, ability to edit and move area selections, improved stacking algorithms, live 30 fps FWHM and HFD for focussing aids, much better image processing and editing features etc. etc.) added in.

Also, any deals on the second copy?

Yes there are. Check out our "reduced price second copy" offer for either a Mac or a Camera (your choice) for $35.00 USD (less than half of of new copy). You can read all about it from our web site at:

Hope That Helps..
