Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] EQ alignment

Rereading my previous post I realize there may need to be some clarification.  I have been using the internet for 18 years, telescopes for only 3.5 years, and a grand total of only months using any kind of camera in astronomy.

I purchased a used Orion 6" EQ recently, no goto or tracking, just so I could get a little practice with an EQ mount.  I am probably a pretty funny sight when I am wrestling it around from one object to the next.

I haven't gotten a really good alignment with it yet, it has been entertaining trying though.

Once before I had tried to align a 10" LX200 on a wedge that our local club owns.  I wasn't too successful with that either.  Never tried again.  I was by myself and considered it a triumph just to get the scope on the wedge without breaking it or one of my body parts.

I really enjoy all the posts and especially the pictures on this list.  One of these days I am going to be able to get me one of those cool firewire cameras.  That is one of the reasons I decided to get the CPC 1100 instead of a bigger dob.  In the meantime, I really enjoy the pictures that others post.  I use Milton's fine software to process the occasional movie I take with Equinox and a Phillips webcam.  Nothing worth keeping yet.

And after almost 53 years of using speech, I am still a long way from proficiency.
